The IT Helpdesk Technician’s purpose is to support the teaching staff in their delivery of curricular and extra-curricular IT and to support all staff with their use of IT. This will include setting up and maintaining equipment, troubleshooting problems and providing technical advice and best practice with regard to the use of IT.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Provide 1st & 2nd line technical support analysing and resolving issues with a wide range of software, hardware and services. Escalating any 3rd line issues to the Senior Technical Team.
- Installing, upgrading and configuring Windows and Mac systems using our installation tools.
- Provide software support for computer operating systems, including Microsoft Windows to a high level and Apple OS X to a basic level.
- Management of users, passwords, and security permissions via Active Directory.
- Provide IT support during lessons in classrooms and computer rooms.
- Provide hardware support for desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, photocopiers, peripherals and telephones.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
At completion of the apprenticeship, the student will have achieved the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the Level 3 Information Communications Technician standard.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
This is a great way to break into the IT industry, gaining a qualification whilst practising what you’re learning ‘on-the-job’ at the end of the apprenticeship, and you will be a fully trained member of our IT team.
