What will the apprentice be doing?
With training, you will learn all aspects of IT support systems, networking, fault finding or customer support. The information communications technician sets people up on systems
and provides support when they need it, rectifying issues to maintain the organisations productivity.
Daily tasks will include:
- Help desk, first line support, network support across the school
- Photocopying installation
- Troubleshooting
- Setting up and updating IT profiles
- Supporting students where required to enable a good overall IT experience
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Training to be provided:
- Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard
- Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths (A*-C or 9-4 GSCE or equivalent) will need to achieve this level before the end of their apprenticeship
You will receive specific on the job training from the employer in your workplace at Sir John Hunt Community Sports College.
Off the job training will be delivered by Achievement Training using weekly classroom sessions or delivered remotely by the tutor using google classroom for Level 3 Information Communications Technician.
You will develop knowledge and understanding of:
- The basic elements and architecture of computer systems
- Maintenance processes and applying them in working practices
- The relevant networking skills necessary to maintain a secure network
- The similarities, differences and benefits of the current operating systems available
- How to operate remotely and how to deploy and securely integrate mobile devices
- The importance of disaster recovery and how a disaster recovery plan works
- The similarities and differences between a range of coding and logic
- Working knowledge of Cloud and Cloud services
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Progression opportunities will include qualifying as a full IT team member, with a salary of between £21,575 - £22,369.
