What will the apprentice be doing?

Primarily involved in the processing of transactional data alongside AAT training, we are looking for an apprentice that has strong attention to detail and a can-do attitude, ensuring tasks are completed.

Tasks will include:

  • Learning NetSuite accounting system, for purchase ledger and sales ledger
  • Bookkeeping including bank reconciliation and matching invoices
  • Ensure all aspects of purchase ledger are completed - to include the processing of all invoices received, ensuring they are appropriately approved, and paid in a timely manner
  • Managing accounts payable inbox on a daily basis
  • Enter all company credit card expenses, ensuring the cost is posted to an appropriate expense code
  • Assisting with VAT returns for submission to HMRC and for review of senior accountant
  • Assisting in preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Filing of documentation in manual and paperless filing systems
  • Other ad-hoc tasks and projects

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3.

This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in an accounting or finance role. Their work could include assisting in the day-to-day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. You will be studying the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. This level will encourage you to master more complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting.

You will study 5 units:

  • Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS)
  • Management Accounting Techniques (MATS)
  • Tax Processes for Business (TPFB)
  • Business Awareness (BUAW)
  • Advanced Synoptic Assessment (ADSY) which forms part of your End Point Assessment

Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom-based lessons or Live Online sessions. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking, and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

After completing your Accounting apprenticeship, progress into a full-time role with potential to complete further accountancy qualifications.

A previous finance apprentice has been with the company 10+ years now and has progressed into a senior fund controller role within TCI.
