This apprenticeship offers us an opportunity to train a new member of staff in the various aspects of boat sales and customer service including serving customers, preparing sales literature, and assisting with sales.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Serving customers and selling supplies 
  • Preparing boats for sale - producing sales brochures/videos using Adobe creative suite and social media
  • Assisting with the sale of narrowboats
  • Answering customer questions taking information and processing sales paperwork and following up on survey reports 
  • Answering calls/responding to emails - taking messages and following up on inquiries

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This apprenticeship would suit anybody interested in the canals, boating, and a slowed-down way of life.

The apprentice will be working towards a level two Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship which will be delivered virtually and in the workplace by Smart Training and Recruitment.

The company will provide training in all duties and any additional aspects of the business that the apprentice would like or need to learn about including accounts and office administration.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

A full-time position could be available for the right candidate. We also have excellent links to local boat yards and other brokers and can help with making contacts if required.

Things to consider

We are located in a rural location; there are infrequent public transport links to nearby villages and a 15-minute walk from the nearest bus stop to here. Travel would need to be looked into before applying to make sure that you could get there and back.
