What will the apprentice be doing?
As an Apprentice in our Transport Planning team every day is different. You will be helping Engineers across a range of projects that make a difference to the world we live in, such as supporting the development of safer and sustainable transport systems. This could involve anything from designing a new cycle route, assessing the impact of traffic on junctions or developing a transport strategy for a new town.
You will get involved with assessing transport proposals, reviewing the impacts of new transport development schemes across different modes of transport such as public transport, walking, cycling and vehicles. As an apprentice, you will learn how to use relevant software such as AutoCAD to produce 2D or 3D drawings to create designs digitally before it is brought to life. You will also help to assist with the preparation of technical reports such as Transport Assessments.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
We will teach you how to use programmes such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) to produce drawings for building and infrastructure projects. You will learn technical skills such as civil engineering calculations and report writing.
At the end of your apprenticeship you’ll achieve a BEng Civil Engineering degree.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Once completing your apprenticeship you will be qualified to pursue a career as a fully qualified Civil Engineer and work towards chartership with the Insititute of Civil Engineers
