You will attend our training provider to gain your nationally recognised qualifications on a day release basis. Salary is reviewed regularly throughout the apprenticeship to reflect progress against the objectives of each phase of training.

What will the apprentice be doing?
As part of your apprenticeship training you will work to become a fully skilled Mechanical Fitter.
You will work in the fitting shop and will learn how to assemble and test the parts to make our special purpose machinery.
Once fully skilled Mechanical Fitters:
- Assemble complete machines and sub-assemblies to customer specifications, and to test completed equipment
- Assemble kit of parts using drawings and internal paperwork system
- Install pneumatic pipework
- Assist with testing of finished equipment and to complete test records
- Operate portable hand tools for drilling, grinding and sanding etc.
- Work within planned times for jobs, and to feedback deviations when necessary
- Supply feedback on machine and process improvements
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assisting other sections when required
- Support mechanical work within the maintenance team
- Work on customers’ sites as part of an installation & commissioning team
- Work on customers’ sites as part of the Customer Services team
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- EAL Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering – Pathway MMD: Fitting & Assembly
- Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
An apprenticeship standard certificate graded at pass, merit or distinction via an end point assessment.
Attendance at college will be required initially on a 3 day a week basis with the rest of the time on site reducing during the apprenticeship.
