What will the apprentice be doing?
- Work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that high standards of care are provided
- Promote and create an educationally stimulating environment in accordance with Every Child Matters and the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, all development areas: Physical, Cognitive, Emotional and Social
- Respond to the individual needs of the children accepted into the Nursery
- Supervise the children arriving/leaving the Nursery
- Prepare and clear up the Nursery area
- Ensure, through the Area Nursery Manager/Nursery Coordinator, that adequate stocks of materials exist
- Undertake a Paediatric First Aid qualification and once qualified undertake duties within the Nursery approved code of practice
- Contribute to the planning and development of activities
- Gain experience of undertaking and maintaining records as required by Ofsted Registration legislation
- Collect and record the taking of refreshment monies
- Maintain in good order all toys and equipment
- Liaise with staff and parents as appropriate to provide an effective service
- Develop excellent communications and relationships with children, parents and staff
- Undertake all appropriate training and staff development activity in accordance with a planned programme of development for the post
- Ensure that all relevant work activities underpin the College’s commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Operate within the College’s equal opportunities framework to achieve College targets and establish parity of esteem
Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be determined after negotiation between management, the post holder and appropriate Trade Unions.
