What will the apprentice be doing?
As an apprentice chef you will be working alongside our experienced chefs in a brand-new state of the art kitchen. You will be involved in the day to day running of the kitchen. You will be expected to report directly to the chefs in a clean, presentable and punctual manner at the start of every shift.
Day to day duties will include all aspects of working in the kitchen environment:
- Washing up
- Cleaning
- Preparing ingredients
- Cooking and plating dishes
- Maintaining a safe working environment
You will be shown how to prepare a variety of sweet and savoury dishes using fresh, local and seasonal produce using classic and modern techniques
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- As an Apprentice, you will study the Apprenticeship in Commis Chef Level 2
- This will involve some learning in the workplace with our work based trainer and also one day per week learning in the college kitchens at our South Downs Campus
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Permanent job opportunities could be available with progression onto Chef de Partie Level 3
