What will the apprentice be doing?

Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship

The Pharmacy Services Assistant Standard provides learners with skills and knowledge regarding a variety of pharmacy and medicines services to patients, the public and other professional healthcare teams. The PSA supports the delivery of pharmacy services in a variety of pharmacy environments, covering the following areas:

  • Dispensing and supply of medicines and medicinal products
  • Team work
  • Communication, pharmacy law and ethics
  • Person-centred care
  • Health and Safety in the workplace

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

At the end of the training you will get the qualification of a Pharmacy Services Assistant which is a Level 2 qualification.

Functional Skills will be available to those who have not achieved math and English GCSE's or equivalents.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once you get the Pharmacy Services Assistant qualification you will be enrolled on the Pharmacy Dispensers course if suitable.

We are a busy community pharmacy with a large number of staff. Many of the current staff started as apprentices and have progressed to becoming Dispensing Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians
