What will the apprentice be doing?
As a Civil Engineering Technician what can I expect to be doing?
You will train as a Civil Engineering Technician apprentice, aiming to achieve a BTEC National Diploma in Civil Engineering. The specific area of Civil Engineering that SOCOTEC Monitoring undertakes is in Geotechnical, Structural, Infrastructure and Environmental Monitoring. This is for large demolition & construction companies alongside asset owners / operators.
The role will support the operations teams and project managers and will involve assisting in the site activities (surveys, installations and reports) for a wide range of Projects.
We are looking for you to develop into the role by undertaking an agreed structured training program of study in house so that in time you will be able to assist in the delivery of accurate and quality monitoring solutions, which are compliant with industry and regulatory standards, and to specification.
Key duties.
- Support the Operations Manager and Site Teams installing and commissioning monitoring systems on sites and assets
- Learning the different types of geotechnical and structural monitoring equipment (i.e. hardware) and how it is configured and installed
- Working alongside site and projects teams to ensure site and installation reports are accurately completed to support client billing and system setup
- Learning different types of Environmental Monitoring units and how the units are set-up (physical set-up and online portals) and on site installation
- Proactively communicate within the team to ensure effective performance
- Comply with office and site safety procedures
- Responsible for maintaining training records
