What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Fabricate and weld aluminium and steel products in accordance with company drawings 
  • Carry out duties in accordance with standard company Quality
  • Assurance procedures and Work Instructions 
  • Carry out daily duties complying with correct PPE and safety procedures in the area 
  • To carry out daily duties as required by the Production Chargehand Supervisor 
  • Assist with the daily inspection and sign off of plant and equipment 
  • Produce a finished product that complies with the drawings supplied 
  • Ensure the product complies with the tolerances and conditions specified on the drawings 
  • Complete production within the timescales specified 
  • Ensure re-work is kept to a minimum and any quality issues are recorded 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will study for and be expected to pass a level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship - the apprenticeship will last for 42 months. We will support you through your formal apprentice qualification in addition you will follow the Balfour Beatty Enhanced Apprentice programme with a mix of development events and activities.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to develop your career further within Balfour Beatty, including the option to move onto the next level of your apprenticeship.
