What will the apprentice be doing?
- To contribute and personally work toward the achievement of the Council’s 8 Core Values to ensure that residents needs are met
- To learn how to respond to any emails through the General Office inbox and complete requests quickly and efficiently
- To learn how process payments that come into the General Office and allocate the funding to the correct account or department
- To learn how to distribute essential documents that are vital to customers applications for services from planning to housing benefit
- To learn how to use the bespoke IT systems within the Council which hold confidential account information and comply with the relevant Data Protection policy
- To work closely with the team to ensure all tasks are completed to a high quality and support Caseworkers with any requests. Coach and support others to develop and improve the systems within the Council
- Promoting and Supporting Customer Self Service where appropriate
- To learn to communicate to all customers, showing excellent communication and listening skills to gather information in order to make decisions on a case-by-case basis.
As an apprentice at Maldon District Council, you will get the opportunity work within the casework team carrying out essential tasks within the following services:
Supporting Environmental Health with the following:
- Business
- Pollution and nuisances
- Housing standards
- Public Health
- Flooding, Drainage & extreme weather
Supporting Revenues & Benefits with the following:
- In the maintenance of accurate data
- Making amendments
- Resolving customer enquiries
- Managing daily reports
- Support with end of year processes
Supporting Planning and BC with the following:
- Booking site inspections
- Recording of customer comments on live applications
- Processing of payment sheets
- Sending notifications to customers
- Supporting with the registration of new applications
Over the time of your apprenticeship you will gain vital skills to develop your career at Maldon District Council.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard includes Functional Skills at Level 2 in maths and English, if required.
The qualification will be delivered by Career Track with flexible training and delivery to meet the needs of the employer.
There will be an external assessment towards the end of the programme which is called an End Point Assessment.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Our apprentices are supported from start to finish with opportunities to get involved in project work, job shadowing, external Council activities, as well as taking part in workshops and other training and development opportunities.
This will help you to get an insight into the Council and the career opportunities available.
