What will the apprentice be doing?
We currently have an opportunity within the Water, Energy and Resources team and another Apprenticeship within the Structural Building Information Modelling (BIM) discipline. Both roles will help a team including engineers and other professionals to assess, design and supervise civil engineering works.
You will help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients.
The Water, Energy and Resources apprentice will work on a wide range of projects - from roads and pavements to car parks, drainage, and earthworks, flood defence, dams & reservoirs and water treatment works. Projects and designs will come in all shapes and sizes, and could involve highways, bridges, and rail schemes. You could also get involved in the computer modelling and drawing of access roads, civil structures, bridges and utility infrastructure.
The apprentice joining the BIM team will help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. You will work alongside a group of people, including engineers and other professionals, coordinating with architectural designs to model, detail and coordinate building structures. You will work on a wide range of building projects for different uses. We have worked on schemes including Arena's, Venues, Stadia, Laboratories, Teaching Facilities, Rail Stations, Commercial buildings and more, no project is ever truly the same. You will use software such as Revit and will have room to learn and develop various complimentary Digital and Automation Skills to aid your longer term career progression in BIM, ultimately supporting the digital design of our projects. The planned career trajectory for this role is to develop as a Structural BIM specialist and you will seek to achieve EngTech MICE Professional Qualification as part of your Apprenticeship End Point Assessment.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As part of your apprenticeship, you'll study towards the Level 3 BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Civil Engineering qualification.
You'll study at a local partner college on day release, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll have access to our online network. You’ll also take internal courses. These cover technical aspects of the business, such as software, but also vital ‘soft’ skills such as report writing and working effectively.
