What will the apprentice be doing?
We're looking for a Town Planning Degree Apprentice to join our team in our Birmingham office. This pathway is delivered at postgraduate level, so builds on your prior learning at undergraduate level. From your first day you'll join a community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification.
- You'll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients.
- While you'll have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we'll give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills.
- Our planning experts work side by side with specialists from a wide range of backgrounds, including environmental, transport planning and civil engineering. Many of our projects are boundary pushing and nationally significant. We are particularly looking to grow our social and environmental planning offer, so would especially welcome applications from planners with career aspirations in this area.
The Town Planner Degree Apprenticeship Standard is RTPI accredited and offers a faster route to chartership than a degree alone.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Our apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a university, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on.
A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. Level 7 Degree Apprenticeships have a typical duration of 3– 6 years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you'll continue to progress with Arup once you've completed your course.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
When joining us as one of our apprentices, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to study for a paid, professionally-recognised qualification in a discipline that will help you further your career.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll have access to our online network. You’ll also take internal courses. These cover technical aspects of the business, such as software, but also vital ‘soft’ skills such as report writing and working effectively.
