What will the apprentice be doing?
- Learn basic engineering skills such as machining, fabricating sheet metal and basic principles of electronic circuits and wiring.
- Work alongside skilled teams in a prototype testing environment, to enhance your on the job learning
- You will regularly rotate within the engineering departments at our research and development centre
- Block release at college to compliment engineering theory
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Basic Engineering skills for use in product design and development.
You will also study for a technical engineering qualification as a Product Design & Development Technician (Prototype Mechanic) Apprentice:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Product Design and Development
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- Together with successful completion with an End Point Assessment (EPA),
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Engineering Technician qualified status and guaranteed further employment on successful completion of the apprenticeship in your chosen trade
