What will the apprentice be doing?
During your work experience you will have the opportunity to work in some of the following areas:
- Group Financial Services; including contracts and accounts receivable, bank and investments, tax and pricing
- Financial Accounting, including accounts payable, credit control, payroll and fixed assets
- Business Partnering, including management accounts, budgeting & forecasting and projects
- Procurement, including contract management
- Finance Systems
- Internal Audit
- Governance and legal
The actual work will vary depending on the team you are working with, but could include:
- Preparation, posting and analysis of financial transactions including invoices, bank and journals
- Preparation and analysis of tax returns
- Preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts
- Preparation and analysis of financial and management accounts
- Preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts
- Use of various financial systems and processes
- Operation and analysis of key IT controls for the finance systems
- Planning, fieldwork and reporting of internal audits
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The ACA qualification has four core elements that you will need to successfully complete in order to become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Completion of the Accountancy or taxation professional apprenticeship will result in eligibility to apply for membership of one or more of the UK professional Bodies below, subject to meeting the requirements expected by the regulator and/or the relevant regulations where chartered status is involved
