What will the apprentice be doing?
To contribute to the future promotion and development of the Group as part of a well-established, supportive, and progressive team.
Reporting to the Pre-School Leader and Deputy the Apprentice will form part of a small team which is dedicated to preparing our children for school in a caring, safe, and fun learning environment.
The Apprentice will work closely with other colleagues in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Key responsibilities will be:
- Assisting with the setting up and packing away of equipment, on a daily basis
- Preparing learning resources and materials
- Assisting colleagues with the preparation of snacks
- Supporting colleagues in supervising snacks and mealtimes
- With the support of colleagues delivering planned activities
- Contributing to health and safety checks and risk assessments
- Contribute to curriculum planning
- Identify resources and activities to support weekly plans and children’s next steps
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Standard portfolio of evidence of:
- Knowledge
- Skills
- Behaviours
The End Point Assessment (EPA) consists of two distinct assessment methods:
- Professional discussion supported by portfolio of evidence
- Knowledge exam
Working towards Functional Skills English and maths at level 1 and 2 if required. This will be one day a week for 6 weeks for each subject with an exam at the end.
Paediatric first aid and safeguarding training.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On successful completion of the apprenticeship there is the possibility of employment as a Pre-School Assistant.
We would consider supporting the right candidate to achieve a Level 3 Childcare qualification.
