What will the apprentice be doing?
- Assist in the day-to-day cultivation and maintenance of the Garden - on rotation, as part of your training and professional development
- Attend, complete and pass a diverse range of training activities as part of your work-based training in the Garden, in order to complete the programme
- Be actively involved in RHS shows/events, including helping with shows/events build-up as and when required
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 2 Horticulture Operative Apprenticeship Standard including:
- Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (rather than just stating first aid certificates)
- Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides OR City & Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides
- Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticide Using Hand Held Equipment OR City & Guilds Level 2 Award In The Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment
- Training takes place block release at Plumpton College in Sussex, all the apprentices from the RHS are taught together so you can learn from each other
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- To progress your career in the horticulture industry for example; public gardens and parks, garden and landscape maintenance or further your career by gaining higher qualifications such as a L3 Diploma or apprenticeship
