What will the apprentice be doing?
- Get your hands dirty working with garden teams across diverse departments from glasshouses to naturalistic plantings and plant collections from all over the world.
- Produce plants through propagation and maintain ornamental grass areas
- Work to support the wider RHS business and wider teams such as events and flower shows
- Comply with health and safety legislation, industry guidance and organisational policies.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
L2 Horticulture Operative standard including
Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (Ofqual registered) minimum 1-day course
(Horticulture Operative) Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides OR City & Guilds Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides
(Horticulture Operative) Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in the Safe Application of Pesticide Using Hand Held Equipment OR City & Guilds Level 2 Award In The Safe Application of Pesticides Using Pedestrian Hand Held Equipment
Training takes place block release at Plumpton College in Sussex, all the apprentices from the RHS are taught together so you can learn from each other.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
To progress your career in the horticulture industry for example; public gardens and parks, garden and landscape maintenance or further your career by gaining higher qualifications such as a L3 Diploma or apprenticeship.
