What will the apprentice be doing?
*THIS ROLE IS BASED IN BEDFORD AND YOU WILL ATTEND BEDFORD COLLEGE*
You will learn how to use surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS and 3D laser scanners. Daily tasks and skills will Include:
- Learning to be precise in practical surveying and how to manage and process survey data on a computer
- Working on-site and office-based locations
- You will take record and document appropriate geospatial measurements to the required specification and work with other professionals, clients, customers and others to obtain and provide geospatial information. (Geospatial data is information that describes objects, events or other features with a location on or near the surface of the earth)
- You will perform calculations and use geospatial data and keep surveying equipment, clean and well maintained
- You will learn the instrument coding and the procedure for taking observations to be precise in practical surveying and taking observations and also, learn how to download files from the instrument to office PC. You will develop skills in AutoCAD and other surveying software
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will gain the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)
You will also study a range of topics, including:
- Construction and the built environment
- Further mathematics in construction
- Science and materials, construction technology and design
- Surveying in construction and civil engineering and structural analysis and design
