What will the apprentice be doing?
Tamara Weal, yard owner is a BHSII qualified instructor recently retired from 30 years of competing at CCI*** level bringing many horses up through the ranks from young horse classes to successful and consistent top competition horses.
The yard is a livery and training yard with high standards of practice. they have full liveries, a range of different breeds and clients for teaching on both their own and the yards horses.
Varied work with duties to include:
- Feeding
- Changing rugs
- Turning out/ bringing in
- Grooming
- Mucking out
- Filling nets and other odd jobs around the yard
The position can be for a ridden of non-ridden apprentice and you will be working with two other members of staff and so skills in communication and politeness are essential as is a good work ethic and commitment.
Some previous equine experience would be needed to and there are ample opportunities for further progression.
4 to 5 days a week, 8am to 6pm with breaks.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The Equine Groom, level 2 standard to be supported by Haddon Training, along with maths and English functional skills if required.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
The possibility to progress onto a L3 after completion of L2.
