What will the apprentice be doing?
- Work with children 4 - 11 years
- Prepare classroom, learning activities and environment
- Support lesson preparation
- Plan and prepare interventions for small groups
- Help supervise children
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to their needs
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement
- Monitor pupils' responses to learning and accurately record achievements / progress
- Classroom display

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
An apprenticeship is a job with training which enables you to earn while you learn.
The apprentice standard consists of core knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to the job role.
It is delivered in partnership with the employer via a blended approach and the apprentice will spend 20% of their time in off the job training during paid working hours.
Prior to completion, the apprentice will undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA). This consists of a portfolio of evidence, a professional discussion and a knowledge test, a pass or distinction is achievable.
Functional Skills, maths and English, are an integral to completion of the apprenticeship. The apprentice will achieve these qualifications as part of the apprenticeships, if not previously gained.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship you will achieve the Teaching Assistant Level 3 Standard qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Some apprentices have moved onto permanent positions here at Windmill Academy (four staff). Other apprentices have taken positions in other local schools at the end of their apprenticeship. To date 100% of the apprentices who have completed their apprenticeship have found employment in education.
