What will the apprentice be doing?

Assist the Operational Control Hub (OCH) Manager in ensuring all operations are carried out quickly and efficiently within the Operations Control Hub, making best use of available resources and supporting the teams to succeed together. As part of the (OCH) team the Apprentice Control Room Specialist duties include the following: 

  • Dealing with incoming emergency situations: liaising with operational teams, out of hours’ crews and emergency services to ensure resolution to required timescales  
  • Monitoring of all routine, reactive and programmed works for the day
  • Undertaking corrective actions to deliver the planned and programmed works / activities  
  • Escalating actions to be resolved and ensuring risk is reduced wherever possible
  • Identifying opportunities for service or process improvement and creating problem statements for the teams to address, including best value for money, quality, and efficiency

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 Business Administrator Advanced Apprenticeship

You will study for this apprenticeship through Fareport Training, local to the Southampton office and this may be a combination of college and office based learning, likely to be one day a week.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will be given a career path on joining that will take you through the different roles and experiences you should gain through the apprenticeship. Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to develop your career further within Balfour Beatty.
