What will the apprentice be doing?

Carry out 2D and 3D drawings to meet the needs of the business that includes:

  • Ensure drawings are dimensionally correct
  • Ensure drawings are technically robust and are buildable
  • Ensure all risks identified are communicated effectively to the operations or work winning teams
  • Liaison with individuals in the business to ensure the best solutions are produced
  • Ensure all CAD work is carried out in compliance with the written standards and procedures

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will study for and be expected to pass the Engineering Design and Draughtsperson Level 3 Apprenticeship, over 42 months. Depending on project requirements, you could be site or office based
  • It is likely you will attend college on day release one day per week at a local college

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • You will follow a 42 month Technical Apprenticeship Scheme as part of our programme, geared towards you becoming an industry expert
  • You will follow the Balfour Beatty Enhanced Apprentice programme. This is a mix of development events and activities, plus in year 2 you will compete in the Balfour Beatty Brathay Apprentice Challenge, to help us find the Balfour Beatty Apprentice Team of the Year
