Qualter Hall & Co Limited are looking for a Fabricator Apprentice to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship to join their team. During your apprenticeship you will undertake a three year training programme. This will start with 25 to 38 weeks of full time training at the AMRC Training Centre. The broad purpose of the occupation is to carry out metal fabrication work using things such as rolled steel joists, columns, channels, steel plate and metal sheet etc.

What will the apprentice be doing?

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to develop a range of fabrication skills in order to become part of our Production Team.

When competent, you will work to:

  • Accurately fabricate a range of standard and bespoke fabricated steel
  • Produce products to appropriate quality standards
  • To keep in line with customer requirements and company standards in the most effective manner

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will study a Level 3 Metal Fabricator standard on a welding and fabrication pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in engineering at advanced level 3 standard.

Other mandatory qualifications:

  • Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - Level: 3
  • Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - Level: 3

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

Advanced apprenticeships entry requirements:

You will need both of the following:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE (or equivalent) maths C or 4 or above on the Higher maths paper

Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world. Things to consider

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. One Friday per month you will return to your workplace. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study.
