What will the apprentice be doing?
For the duration of the apprenticeship, you will develop skills in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. You will also develop advanced diagnostic skills and repair techniques to include but not limited to:
- Undertaking detailed inspections of generators.
- Carrying out planned and un-planned maintenance on Generator system components.
- Carrying out standard diagnosis tests on generator system components.
- Producing a comprehensive list of parts and materials required.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
At the end of the apprenticeship you will gain a Maintenance and Operations Service Engineering Technician Level 3 qualification. You will attend training blocks at Finning’s Training Academy in Cannock throughout your apprenticeship to gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours for your apprenticeship standard. These blocks can be 1,2,4 or 6 weeks long. You will then apply those new knowledge and skills in your branch workplace. (All hotel/travel costs are covered by Finning UK & I).

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
You will train to become a Finning Engineer. Our engineers are skilled practical personnel who repair and maintain Caterpillar® equipment. Our qualified service engineers can be workshop or site based.
