What will the apprentice be doing?
There’s no such thing as a typical day at WSP. Your role will be varied and your learning will be fast paced. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills using specialist software suited to the area of the business you are working in, such as AutoCAD and Revit. Within the Industry team apprentices will use various CAD packages to produce 2D & 3D designs for process plants. The team work in a diverse range of industries including Chemicals, Pharmaceutical and food and get involved in the entire project lifecycle from initial concept through to completion. Apprentices will be trained in a specific discipline within the Industry business unit but will also be exposed to other disciplines so they get an appreciation of Mechanical/piping, Building Services, Civil/Structural, Electrical, and Control & Instrumentation design. Where practical, you’ll get the opportunity to visit site and see the projects you’ve been working on, coming to life.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will attend a local college to study Engineering Design and Draughtsperson advanced apprenticeship and gain a level 3 qualification, as well as completing your End Point Assessment. You will also be enrolled onto a bespoke internal development programme to help you to attain the knowledge, skills and behaviours to successfully achieve your apprenticeship, and support your career.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
As this is a permanent position, after gaining your level 3 qualification, WSP will continue to be committed to your learning and development throughout your career with us. You will have the opportunity to pursue your further study and training goals and go onto work towards gaining professional registration with your chosen institution.
