  • Annual wage

    £20,000.00

    Plus 2 paid days a year for volunteering, cheaper gym memberships & Tastecards , discounts with selected high street retailers, 25 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays), WSP's Cycle to Work Scheme, reduced rates on gadget insurance and other benefits.

  • Working week

    This would be a permanent position working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Exact working hours are agreed with your Line Manager; however an example of standard hours are 09:00 – 17:30 with one hour for lunch.

What will the apprentice be doing?

As a civil engineering degree apprentice in our Building Structures team, you will work on local, national and international projects with a team of experts. Your tasks could include; training in the use of and working on various CAD packages, creating and editing 3D models and using those to produce 2D drawings and details for our clients. Later on in your degree apprenticeship you will then be moving to a design team. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will attend the London South Bank University to study a Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship and gain a bachelors qualification, as well as completing your End Point Assessment (and your Incorporated Engineer status) with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

You will also be enrolled onto a bespoke internal development programme to help you to attain the knowledge, skills and behaviours to successfully achieve your apprenticeship, and support your career in Civil Engineering.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

As this is a permanent position, after gaining your degree, WSP will continue to be committed to your learning and development throughout your career with us. You will have the opportunity to work towards gaining Chartered status with your chosen institution, as well as the opportunity to pursue your further study and training goals.

We have a three-stage application process, first you will complete a structured application form that will be reviewed by our team. If you are successful at that stage, you will move on to complete a Behavioural Based Assessment, in the form of a series of games and puzzles you will work through on your phone or computer. If you are successful at this stage, you will then move on to an interview or recruitment event with the team you would be working with.
