We are looking for a Pre-School Assistant to support with the Early Years education of our children. You will be responsible for providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for our children aged 2-5 years old and to work as part of a team in order to provide a supportive and creative environment.

What will the apprentice be doing?
You will build and maintain strong working relationships with staff and have great communication skills. You will be expected to work with parents and carers to ensure fluid communication and to ensure children’s needs are met.
Briefly, the main duties are:
- Ensure that all children have a varied and full exploration of the EYFS, so that all their needs are fully met
- Keep records of key children’s developments and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life
- Support all staff and engage with staff team
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day to day caring and early learning needs
- Ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories
- Advise Manager/Leader of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary
- Be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g., training, staff meetings etc.
- Be flexible within working practices of the provision, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snacks/meals, cleansing of equipment etc.

We have two sites – one purpose-built in Olveston and one in Pilning village hall – and are really excited to expand our team with a new Pre-School Apprentice, who will mainly be based at our Olveston site on the Olveston/Tockington border.

About the Role:
- To contribute to a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of the children
- To record children’s learning and development journeys, and to then communicate these with parents, carers and other key adults
- To be actively engage in great team working
- To liaise with and support parents, carers and other family members
- To participate in the high-quality care and supervision of all children
- To attend activities that are out of working hours (e.g. staff meetings, training, and events etc.)
- To be flexible and to be prepared to help where needed (including domestic jobs e.g. cleaning and preparing the setting etc.)
- To follow the ethos of the Pre-School, creating a warm and friendly environment
- To work alongside the Manager and staff team
- To ensure that the EYFS is promoted efficiently and that all policies are followed correctly
- To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Pre-School Manager
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Early Years Educator standard.
Apprentices must successfully complete a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. Please refer to the DfE list of approved EYE qualifications:

Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirements are Entry Level 3, and the British Sign Language qualification is an alternative to English qualifications for apprentices for whom this is their primary language.
Apprentices must successfully complete a paediatric first aid qualification in line with the requirements of the EYFS Framework (Annex A): Early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
You will be required to complete Functional Skills mathematics and English (where applicable), Employment Rights and Responsibilities and British Values.
Apprentices must successfully complete a first aid qualification in line with the requirements of the EYFS Framework.
Location: South Gloucestershire and Stroud College - Filton Campus.
Duration: 18-24 months.
