What will the apprentice be doing?

The role would be suitable for someone who is already Level 2 qualified or has some experience of working in Early Years.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing, and feeding
  • To assist with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children
  • To input and contribute to ideas regarding the implementation of policies and procedures such as the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To provide adult interaction with children in the nursery
  • Contribute to good standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the Nursery
  • Look upon the nursery as a "whole" where can you help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children
  • To respect the confidentiality of information received
  • Completing assignments on time as part of your Level 3 qualification
  • To attend team meetings and teaching sessions, make contributions and share ideas
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development

As you will be undertaking the Level 3 qualification, the ability:

  • To write at a Level 3 standard is paramount
  • Having gained GCSE maths and English A*-C or 9-4 would be an advantage
  • If you have not gained these previously, the training provider will support you to gain the Level 2 Functional Skills maths and English
  • Alongside your job role, you are expected to complete the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification, which is essential if you want to work in the sector

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The successful candidate will work towards the CACHE Level 3 Diploma - Early Years Educator qualification
  • Observations and a series of assessments will take place, arranged by your assessor in the workplace
  • For candidates who require support with English and maths, we offer both Functional Skills and GCSEs to help boost your current grade, if required
  • 20% off-the-job training will be compulsory and the arrangements will be confirmed with the employer upon appointing the successful candidate.  This will either be one day per week or block release, attending EQT's training centre

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Happy Hours will offer full-time employment to the successful candidate based on the achievement and development from starting the apprenticeship
