What will the apprentice be doing?
In the production department the apprentice will be involved with:
- Site working
- Using various hand and power tools
- Using the computer system to update stock levels amongst other necessary IT tasks
- Some basic electrical work
The job will also entail working in our production department which will include making a variety of high temperature conveyor belts and associated equipment. This will involve working in a small team and becoming skilled in a variety of hand tools as well as bespoke machinery and equipment. From time to time there will be involvement in site working.
A typical day in the production department will involve being given a production job sheet from which the learner will decide the resources, materials and tools required for the job.
The job will then be completed, a lot of the jobs will require two people working on them, before final inspection taking place.
The stock system will be updated with materials used and what is still left in stock.
Once the job has been completed to the required standard it will be packed and shipped.
The paperwork is then processed with the administration department before proceeding with your next task.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Full in-house training provided towards the successful completion of the Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Standard, which includes:
- EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (Knowledge and Skills)
- Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1 or 2 (if applicable)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, further company specific training will be offered.
