Weekly wages range from £256 - £640 per week depending on age. Travel & accommodation allowances are accessible whilst on site. Flexibility is required which include weekends, evenings and nights.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Steel Fixing is the construction of various modules to reinforced concrete. The apprenticeship is made up of tutorials, workshops and practical’s.
- Cuts and bends steel components
- Connects steel components
- Install and tie together steel bars and mesh
Your working environment may be at height, noisy, dirty, physically demanding, outdoors in all weathers and cramped.
You will need to wear safety clothing and use safety equipment and adhere to the HPC values.
You will need to complete your apprentice college work alongside working on site.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 2 Steel Fixer apprenticeship standard:
- Edexcel Level 1 Functional Skills Mathematics and English (Exemptions apply)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Your workplace will predominantly be at Hinkley Point C. Steel Fixers will be required on this project for 5 years, so you will have the opportunity to develop your skills.
Being able to state that you have successfully completed your apprenticeship and developed your Steel Fixing skills and abilities on Hinkley Point C new nuclear build will be a highly valued part of your CV.
Steel Fixers have opportunity to travel the world to work on projects and can progress to supervision and management.
