An opportunity to train as a commis chef working with our small, close-knit team of chefs. You will be cooking with local free-range produce, as well as ingredients from our own garden. You will be taught how to prepare and serve seasonal and contemporary dishes to our guests. Duties include preparing vegetables, meats and fish, assisting other chefs and helping with deliveries and restocking.

A pro-rata share of the service charge will be paid in addition to wage. Incremental wage increases may be offered upon successful progress reviews. Applicants with prior training or experience may be offered an increased starting wage.

What will the apprentice be doing?
A commis chef assists a section chef, also known as a chef de partie. The role is made up of many varying responsibilities including:
- Assisting in the food preparation process
- Cooking and preparing elements of high quality dishes
- Preparing vegetables, meats and fish
- Assisting other chefs
- Helping with deliveries and restocking
- Assisting with stock rotation
- Cleaning stations
- Contributing to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- You will achieve a Level 2 Commis Chef qualification upon completion
- You will attend Strode College, one day a week
- Strode College will be managing the applications for this vacancy
- English and maths qualifications form a mandatory part of all apprenticeships and must be completed before an apprentice can pass through gateway
