What will the apprentice be doing?
As the Fabricator / Welder Apprentice you will support the fabrication and welding team.
Your duties will include, although will not be limited to:
- MIG, TIG, MMA including plate welding
- Evaluating and interpreting drawings, sketches and other data to be used in the preparation of the product to be manufactured
- Working with various sections and plate material between 1-30+ mm thick
- Highlighting and communicating any minor faults that may arise which could cause delays to production
- Ensuring work is carried out to exact tolerances, and that all operating conditions are correct before commencing manufacture
- Maintaining accurate records of production and other operational data
- Performing general machine maintenance
- Ensuring all machinery on site is in safe working order, complying with site standards
- Keeping the workshop hazard free and maintaining a good working environment
- Full training will be provided
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- General Welder Level 2 (to include elements of Plate Welding and Fabrication)
- Apprenticeship Training will take place both inside the workplace and outside at Rochdale Training, 1 day per week
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Once qualified, progression is offered to the correct candidate
