What will the apprentice be doing?

We are seeking to employ and train 2 apprentices. You will receive broad-based training covering many aspects of Aerospace Manufacture, specialising as a craft apprentice. Following your apprenticeship, your first appointment will be as a Skilled Fitter. When onsite apprentices work alongside trained staff to enhance their skills, putting into practice what they have learnt at the MAKE UK. You will receive an overall insight to the company’s capabilities by rotating through many departments and focusing on your overall fitting and testing competence while working on Aluminium, Inconel, Titanium and Stainless Steel aerospace products. Other insights will be:

  • Joining Techniques
  • Testing,
  • Vacuum Brazing
  • Heat Treatment and Chemical Processing capability
  • Working with components produced from a variety of different materials
  • Apprentices will be required to comply with all ethical, environmental and safety regulations

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This 4 year programme will include:

  • Engineering Basic Skills training - off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
  • A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
  • In house training in line with your requirements

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Following your apprenticeship, your first appointment will be as a Skilled Fitter.
