Duties include making a technical contribution to either the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, systems, processes or services and apply safe systems of working.

What will the apprentice be doing?
You will receive broad-based training covering many aspects of Aerospace Manufacture, specialising as a technical apprentice. Upon completion of your apprenticeship, your first appointment will be either quality or manufacturing engineer. When onsite apprentices work alongside trained staff to enhance their skills, putting into practise what they have learnt at the MAKE UK. You will receive an overall insight to the company’s capabilities by rotating through the quality and manufacturing engineering departments You will receive further training and development in the following areas:
- Evaluating manufacturing processes to make them more efficient
- Resolve issues and delays in production
- Collaborate with other engineers, customers, contractors, and suppliers
- Developing and implementing quality standards monitoring and analysing quality performance
- Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met
- Investigating and troubleshooting product or production issues
- Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements
- Other insights will be joining techniques, testing, vacuum brazing, heat treatment and chemical processing capability
- Working with components produced from a variety of different materials apprentices will be required to comply with all ethical, environmental and safety regulations
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
This 4 year programme will include:
• Engineering basic kills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering • A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
• In house training in line with your requirements
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
