What will the apprentice be doing?

Working in the water and wastewater industry in a small gang alongside an experienced Foreman and skilled operatives.

The work includes:

  • Installation of both gravity and pressurised pipework
  • Construction of manholes and chambers
  • Installation of ducting and draw pits
  • Construction of foundations and ground slabs
  • Sub-base preparation of roads
  • Kerbing and drainage

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard No. 513 in Groundworker:

  • Level 2 Groundworker - Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours
  • Edexcel L1 Functional Skills English - Classroom (Construction)
  • Edexcel L1 Functional Skills mathematics - Classroom (Construction)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Become a key member within the workforce in the southern region with all future training needs catered for to ensure development past the apprenticeship
  • Training will include CPCS tickets for forward tipping dumper, ride on roller amongst others
