What will the apprentice be doing?

Years 1 and 2:

You will:

·         Spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship.

·         Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your three-month rotational placements, while keeping a log of all the work you complete which will then be used towards your apprenticeship.

·         During your second year you will attend college on a day release basis to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the knowledge qualification of your apprenticeship and continue with your rotational placements.

Specific Specialist Skills:

  • produce technical documentation that contains all the relevant and necessary data
  • and information required for the technical support activity being carried out
  • present the technical documentation in the required format
    ensure that codes, symbols and other references used in the technical

Years 3 and 4:

You will:

·         Continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your engineering skills.

·         Complete the workplace portfolio phase of your level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the competence qualification of your apprenticeship.

·         Complete the End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship and be selected through a combination of interview and academic/vocational progress to focus your development in a final work placement that lasts for the remainder of the apprenticeship

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will complete the Engineering Technician - Technical Support Technician (ST0457) - L3 Apprenticeship

After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)

After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship you may be offered a permanent position in the Engineering/Manufacturing Department.
