What will the apprentice be doing?
This job role varies throughout the year:
Summer Duties:
- Grass cutting
- Hedge cutting
- Strimming
- General tiding of gardens cutting back including litter picking
- General labouring
In summer we do a week of mainly grass cutting, then a week of maintenance visits hedge cutting, landscape jobs, etc.
Winter Duties:
- In winter we offer snow ploughing / gritting service
- We offer handyman services
- Machine maintenance, painting and servicing
- General labouring
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 2 Horticulture or Landscape Operative apprenticeship standard, which includes Functional Skills in maths and English if required
- Emergency first aid: Level 3 award in emergency first aid at work
- Pesticides: Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides Guidance OR Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides
- Training by day release at Shipley College with onsite assessment
