What will the apprentice be doing?

Apprentice Gardener and Landscaper.

This is a great opportunity to achieve a qualification in horticulture, while gaining practical skills and experience alongside another horticulturist.

  • Carry out all general maintenance tasks
  • Practice safe systems of work
  • Ensure all tools are stored correctly
  • Contribute fully to team working
  • Undertake all aspects of garden maintenance, landscaping and commercial grounds

Pay and benefits:

  • Starting pay of national minimum apprentice wage, paid monthly in arrears
  • Statutory holiday pay. Currently 28 days pro-rata

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training - Day release:

  • Full Level 2 Horticultural apprenticeship
  • Level 2 Horticultural qualification
  • Functional skills if applicable
  • First aid qualification

Training - On job:

  • Safe use of gardening and other hand tools
  • Safe use of petrol-powered gardening machinery (subject to age)
  • Identification and care of plants, shrubs, when and where to plant them
  • Safe working practices related to the above

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

A permanent position may be offered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. Opportunity to learn and develop within the company. Progression on to higher apprenticeship/training.
