What will the apprentice be doing?

As a Laboratory Taxonomist apprentice at Ocean Ecology, you’ll become an integral part of a rapidly growing company with highly dynamic team. The role will include in-house training in processing marine samples as well as training on identifying marine species.

Some of your main responsibilities will see you:

  • Helping with the day-to-day upkeep and running of the company’s laboratories
  • Assisting with different stages of marine sample analysis, including sieving, extracting biota from sediment, bio-massing and assisting with particle size analysis
  • Accountable for the general upkeep of client and in-house specimen reference collections.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English (if required)
