What will the apprentice be doing?
On a day-to-day basis the successful applicant will be working within the office side of the business and will be undertaking the following duties:
- Handling customer enquiries via telephone, fax, email and face to face meetings
- Providing product pricing information and quotations according to customer requirements
- Providing sales administration support to the external field sales team
- Following up quotations and processing orders accordingly
Within this role you will be producing accurate take offs of stone/precast quantities required for a job. You will analyse proposals, specifications, drawings, samples and related documents, identify material requirements and prepare appropriate quotations and/or priced bills of quantities. At post tender stage you will respond to further technical and commercial queries regarding tenders and quotations.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be expected to work towards the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Full-time job with the employer.
- Progression in the role to be a lead estimator.
