Opportunity to take part in various functions in the kitchen such as preparation of ingredients, cooking dishes as specified by the senior chefs and cleaning duties. You will be given opportunities to suggest dishes for the new menu / specials and help out in our seasonal events.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard - Commis Chef:

  • Level 2 Commis Chef - Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
  • Functional skills at level 1 and/or 2 in English and maths as required (exemptions apply)

The successful candidate will also need to complete a diagnostic assessment, which will help us plan the appropriate support required to meet their individual needs.

Training will be delivered via a day release programme including practical workshops. This will total 288 hours of off-the-job training to be delivered by and at Bridgwater and Taunton College.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On successful completion of the Apprenticeship, you will be qualified to work as a Commis Chef. Progression from this Apprenticeship is expected to be into a Chef de Partie role or Senior Production Chef role.

About the employer

Mark Littlewood is the Landlord and took over the tenancy on 7th September 2021. What a time to take over a pub, lots of challenges thrown at the hospitality trade during the past two year. However, Mark is a seasoned landlord and has successfully developed Country Pubs over his forty year career. The Drayton Crown is a well loved village pub, with a loyal following from the locals along with an attraction for visitors from further afield. The pub has four beautiful bedrooms and provides Bed & Breakfast. Regular events are organised by the team, everything from Christmas, Valentines, Halloween to Live Music by talented singers and bands, open mic nights and traditional pub quizzes. On top of that we have a ‘Street Food’ Pod that caters for certain events and overflow in the garden during the summer months. There’s always something going on. The bar area is eclectic and comfortable and can do 35(+) covers. A large garden with plenty of seating 50 (+) covers in the summer and a large dining room (45/50 covers) that can be booked for private events, celebrations, meetings, buffets etc
