We are recruiting for an Apprentice Chef for a stunning country gastro pub and restaurant with rooms and a separate annex. There is a spectacular a la cart menu, always freshly prepared and using locally sourced ingredients and a seasonal menu with daily specials. The head chef is highly skilled and experienced within fine dining establishments.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Preparation of ingredients for recipes
- Communication with front of house staff
- Production of appealing dishes
- Complying with health and safety regulations
- Rotating stock and ingredients
- Cleaning kitchen after service
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard - Commis Chef:
- Level 2 Commis Chef - Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours
- Functional skills at level 1 and/or 2 in English and maths as required (exemptions apply)
The successful candidate will also need to complete a diagnostic assessment, which will help us plan the appropriate support required to meet your individual needs.
There will be a day release at the Taunton Campus of Bridgwater and Taunton College. This will take place at the state-of-the-art Quantock Restaurant.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be qualified to work as a commis chef. Progression from this apprenticeship is expected to be into a senior production chef role.
