What will the apprentice be doing?

You will receive support and training to deliver the following outcomes:

Teaching and Support:

  • Undertake duties in accordance with school practices under guidance of a teacher
  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils or working with groups in pre-planned activities
  • Assist where required in planning of learning activities
  • Under the guidance of a teacher, ensure equipment is suitable for learning activities
  • Prepare learning resources
  • Promote good behaviour by implementing a range of behaviour strategies in accordance with school behaviour policy 

Pupil Support:

  • Actively encourage inclusion of all pupils to participate in life and activities of school and access the curriculum
  • To provide individual assistance or assistance within groups through implementing behaviour plans, Individual Education
  • Plans and teaching strategies etc, to maximise their achievements
  • As required, to deal with the personal care and comfort and necessary minor medical treatments of pupils, i.e. toileting and intimate care issues (as per school guidance and direction)

Curriculum Activities:

  • Under the direction of the teacher, assist in the structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes
  • To contribute in the presentation of pupils’ work and maintenance of display areas
  • To assist with the preparation and tidying of the classroom and upkeep of resources

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Teaching Assistant L3
  • Apprentices without English and maths at Level 2 must achieve these prior to taking the End Point Assessment

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There is potential for a permanent position as a Teaching Assistant following a successful apprenticeship.
