What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include:

  • Receive prescriptions and give out completed prescriptions according to GPhC legislation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Accurately read prescription, dispense and label medication
  • Order, maintain and receive stock
  • Give healthcare advice on supply of products, their dosage, storage and disposal, when necessary
  • Give Healthy Lifestyle advice
  • Work as part of the pharmacy healthcare team in maintaining the services provided by the pharmacy
  • Communicate effectively both within the team, other medical related teams and also the patients
  • Have an understanding of the Laws and ethics
  • Maintain Patient Confidentiality
  • Use pharmacy IT systems and other IT resources according to legislative requirements and pharmacy policies
  • Understand and deliver a Patient Centred Care, and give patients a choice about their care
  • Work safely according to Health and Safety regulations
