What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Installation of CCTV, alarms, barriers, access control, fibre optics
  • Maintenance of existing security systems
  • Repair and diagnostics of security systems
  • Site surveys, consultancy, design and planning projects
  • Training, testing and fault finding of security systems
  • Responding to callouts (within normal working hours)

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The Apprentice will be completing the Fire, Emergency & Security Standard Level 3
  • By completion of this apprenticeship the candidate will have satisfied the requirements for registration as EngTech by the Engineering Council

You will receive the following training in addition to the Apprenticeship Standard:

  • In-house training on all company policies and procedures.
  • Training on and applicable to specific work sites
  • IPAF training

The training will be undertaken over a 3-year period and is likely to be block training periods at Lincoln College Newark Campus             

  • The successful applicant will have the opportunity to remain with the company on a full employment contract following successful completion of the apprenticeship if a position is available.
  • Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technicians design, install, commission and maintain electronic systems in and outside simple and complex premises to protect individuals, homes and properties from risk and danger. Systems include fire, security and emergency systems to detect intrusion, provide surveillance, monitor and control access to buildings,properties and sites or to detect fire and emergencies.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to remain with the company on a full employment contract following completion of the apprenticeship if a position is available.

Things to consider

• The job will entail working both indoors and outdoors and also working at height on occasions. • Need to be able to travel with possible overnight stays away from home during the week. • Clean driving licence required for travel to various sites.
