What will the apprentice be doing?

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Greeting and directing all patients
  • Act as a first line response on phone calls into the department
  • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required
  • Accepting, issuing, and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
  • Dealing with requests for information and managing problems and complaints
  • Advising patients of practice procedures
  • Registering new patients
  • Answer the telephone promptly
  • General administration including scanning, basic coding from third party communications, monitoring e-mails into the surgery and allocating to the correct teams, supporting movement of patients' medical records in/out of the surgery

Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship, to include:

  • Level 2 Diploma for Customer Service Practitioner
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Functional Skills (as required)
  • Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

Things to consider

Ideally the apprentice will be able to drive and work at all 3 locations – but if not, they can be based at Abbey Field. Candidates will be required to spend 2 hours in Reception before being invited to interview.
