What will the apprentice be doing?

• Answering the telephone, transferring calls to appropriate staff or taking messages

•Reception duties, including greeting visitors, ensuring they sign in, informing the relevant member of staff of their arrival and escorting visitors around the school when needed

•Distribution of messages/incoming items to staff/students around school

•Collecting students from lesson when required

•Ensuring the reception area is kept clean, tidy and welcoming for visitors including updating school noticeboards.

•Distributing incoming post

•Typing correspondence, filing, photocopying, scanning, shredding

•Undertake mandatory training on safeguarding, health and safety and security

•Booking of meeting rooms

•Hospitality when required

•Assisting with organisation of events

• Work with the office team to assist with attendance e.g. parent phone calls and updating MIS system.

•  Assist with the administration of the admissions process e.g. inputting admissions data onto the MIS system and assisting with the organisation and running of transition events

• Any other admin tasks as directed by the School Business Manager.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will gain a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard Qualification.

You will not need to attend a college campus, as the training provided will require you to participate in online sessions, once a month in the workplace.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There may be a possibility of securing a permanent position in the future.
