What will the apprentice be doing?
The apprentice will carry out a full range of dispensary duties including (not an exhaustive list):
- Unpacking, checking and shelving stock
- Ordering stock
- Preparing prescriptions/dispensing
- Handing out to patients
- Dealing with queries
- Dealing with controlled drugs/drug returns
- Making up monitored dosage boxes
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 2 Pharmacy Assistant apprenticeship.
Functional Skills maths and English Level 1 and/or Level 2, as appropriate.
Training will take place at the workplace - no need to travel to a college.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
It is expected that at the end of the apprenticeship, a dispensary position within the practice would be offered.
